Thumbs up 2 Trips from Jacksonville FL. to Ft. Richardson, AK. and back!

Well, I have been wanting to Post this for some time now. Being Retired I figured it was time. When I buy a American Car, it must be a Chevrolet. Being 6 Year's old at that time, I still and will always remember my dad's 1960 Chevrolet, Parkwood My Dad, a US Army CW2. Bandmaster knew he was going to be PCSing somewhere in 1962. He had ordered the Heavy Duty Parkwood He Had Ordered the 1960 Parkwood Station Wagon. with the Heavy-Duty Automatic Transmission, and the Largest V8 he could Get in the Car. This was before the Days of the famous 350 V8. The largest V8 he could get was the 348. He was going to be Towing a Trailer from Ft. McClelland, AL. to Jacksonville, FL. to Anchorage, AK. In May of 1962 We sit out on the Great Quest to the Northwest.

My Dad also had put Brown Contact Paper on the Side Windows to cool it down for me and my brother in the Back. It helped with the A/C he told me. We came into Canada in Regina; we were in New Brunswick. What I recall the the most about Canada, was British Columbia I hope to fly up there someday to see Vancouver. We did stay the Night in Dawson Creek. I recall that sign. that they called Mile Zere. It is still there. I wrote to the R.C.M.P. Dawson Creek Detachment asked them if it is still the same as the Photo my dad took of us. The front of the Trailer had to have a Steel Plate welded on the Front, as the Alaska Highway was all Gravel in 1962. The Yukon was the Connection to Alaska. We made it up there in just under 2 Weeks. The Alaska Highway is now all Paved. I am told.

This Car to the best of my Memories, never Broke Down. It ran, and it ran, and it ran! However, the little Trailer we pulled. was having a hard time. My Dad Sold the Trailer before we came back Home in 1965. This is the Car I will always remember! This is also why I can never own a Ford.! Sadly My Dad traded in the Chevy, because my little Sister Susan was Born on 23 August 1963, He traded it in on a Chrysler! Unbelievable! When we went home back to the Mainland, with a new Car and Trailer. This was my Chevy Moment! Paul

The school behind my mom is The Elementary School, I went to. Did not have to walk far to school at all. The Sign Gallery is in the Yukon; I was told by R.C.M.P. K Division It had grown over 63 Years My Mother wanted my dad to Wash the Car on a Rainey Day in August. She wanted some Photos of The Car. Dad told me a few Years later, that the Transmission was starting to have some Problems. Paul

I don't know what the Gas Milage was for the Car. Is that Engine Code that you mentioned, the Code for my Dad's Parkwood. Paul
