Default evap code on 2006 Uplander.

I have a 2006 Uplander 3.5 liter, I recently had the check engine light to come on. I got it checked at Oreilly's and they said it was a evap code but didn't say what number. I have noticed that the van starts right up when cold but after warming up and I try to restart that it turns over and over and over before finally starting. Starts great cold but not so good when warmed up. Could the emission vapor canister purge valve solenoid on the engine that the vaccume goes to be causing this? I have looked on YouTube and that part seems to be a possible cause. Would the emission vapor cannister purge valve solenoid cause an evap code? Thanks for any help.

the number is important. Go back and get it. Otherwise you could be hunting for days and wasting money.

It's over a 40 mile trip and with the weather today bad here in Kentucky, I thought I would call them. The guy said that he wasn't certain but thinks it was P0496 code but could have been P0449, but he believes it was P0496. It did say evap tho, that he knowed for sure. Thanks

the evap system has many parts, including plumbing and electrical, so you want to be certain. Code readers are pretty cheap these days.

Anyway here are some diagnosing steps for the codes he thinks it might be.
I would start with a smoke test for leaks, and then checking the valves for correct operation.

Did you ever solve this problem? I had P0496 on our '07 - crank times were long just after refuelling unless throttle was opened slightly. The purge valve on the engine fixed it.

I was told by several mechanics that I needed to remove the gas tank and replace the vaves under there, I can do some work but that was more than I wanted to try. Then a friend came by and said his Venture did that and it was the little valve under the hood. I went on Amazon and bought
Emission Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Emission Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid Valve
. That is all that I needed, no more codes. I think the mechanics either weren't very good or knew and tried to swindle me.

They could have been incompetent AND dishonest. I'm happy to hear that you found and fixed the problem.
