Key stuck in ignition
Ok here's the series of events. The plastic piece that holds the shift cable on the shifting mechanism broke letting the cable hang. I put the piece back on and parked the car. When I put it in park the doors will unlock but the shifter doesn't lock and the key wont turn to the off position. Any ideas on what's happening

`The cable isn't properly adjusted. I'm sure there are videos on how to adjust it. IIRC, you have to put the shifter and the shift lever in park, then release the safety locks on the cable itself. Allow the cable to extend itself PAST the shift lever, then push it back until you can snap the ball link onto the ball stud. If you push it back too far, allow it to extend itself out again, then push it back. Re-engage the safety locks on the cable. I'm just going from memory here, I may have gotten it wrong. But as I recall that's what has to be done

To remove the old cable from the lock cylinder on your 2002 Suburban, first locate the release tab or clip holding the cable in place. Press down on the tab and gently pull the cable out. If it won’t budge, try rotating it while pulling. Make sure there are no additional screws or clips that might be securing it. You can also apply some lubricant to help loosen it. Once the old cable is out, the new one should easily fit into the lock cylinder.
