07 Silv 1500 Tranny Question
Long time reader first time writer.........................
Question.......I have a 07 Silverado LT 2wd ext cab 1500 with a 5.3L and 3.42 rearend.
I will be pulling a 28' Travel Trailer with a weight of 5700lbsso with 2 people and gas total weight will be 6200lbs average.
The tranny tempnormally runs about 180 +/-. When I pulled the TT to storage the temp went to 210 +/-.
I have purchased the GM tranny Cooler kit with the external cooler and tubing lines and want to get it installed.
My question is.....should I install it and would it improve my temp for the tranny?
Thank for the help

RE: 07 Silv 1500 Tranny Question
i think no matter what you tow whether its a light utility trailer or a car hauler you need a transmission cooler. Heat is the number one killer of transmissions and the 4l60e is definetly less than bulletproof. so yes get it installed and have some fun trips

Maybe this is a dumb question, but If you purchased a tranny cooler so as to reduce operating temps whydo you ask if you should install it? That is what a tranny temp cooler does is lower the tranny temp.

RE: 07 Silv 1500 Tranny Question
Reason I am asking is the dealer has never installed one of theseand they are not sure if it woulddrop the oil temp(no help from the supposed experts). All they say is that over 200deg is on the high side of the operating range even though they cannot tell me what the operating range is.
I did the research on coolers and figured an OEM product would be the best plus it comes as a kit.
I would rather not pay the money to them to install it and not get any results!
