1/2 ton truck
This is my first post on this website, well any website at that.
I currently have a 2017 Chevy Colorado z71 3.6l. I’m looking at upgrading my little truck to a 1/2 ton truck.
my wife and I tow a travel trailer every now and then (weekend warrior and vacations) Trailer weighs in at 5600 lbs loaded. It seems that this trailer is putting my truck to its max and wife doesn’t feel too secure in it while towing.
We will be upgrading to a bigger trailer in the next few years. So my question is for a larger truck should I consider diesel or gas?
I was looking at the Silverado 2500. This truck would also be my daily driver as well.
Any suggestions would be of great help

your wife's concern is spot on.
i would only get a diesel if you are towing super heavy and will not own the vehicle off warranty. Every manufacturer are having aftertreatment problems and the repair parts are in the thousands of dollars. injectors $600 each, injection pump and turbo 5000 each, def pump and tank 2500, doc 2000. Look into it.
Repairs aside, any fuel mileage savings from the diesel will be negated by higher regular maintenance costs.
i run a 2500 gaser and its is solid. tows fantastic but expect 10-12mpg towing 6000lbs. I get 16-18mpg imperial gallon highway with no trailer. I don't have to deal with def, doc regeneration or derating due to def problems. parts are much cheaper for a gaser.

Yeah I was leaning towards gas, everything I have read is that diesel are $12,000 more and hella expensive to fix. Again thank you for your response

dpf filter regeneration use more fuel and then add buying def fluid....no thanks.
I hear rumblings that the science is bad and that it does more harm than good. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?
