Default 6.6L Diesel Re-gen

Took my truck in for servicing today thinking I had a brake pad or e brake dragging every once in awhile I would get this really hot smell like a brake shoe dragging sometimes even have a little bit of a rubbery smell to it.
Also noted that the engine would sometimes have a funky sound do it and the idle would go high.
Service advisor let me know that most likely that is the diesel regen for the DEF.
Being my first diesel these are new things but it's good to know they're normal. The DEF fluid system is a whole new animal.
And for those thinking just delete it, that's really not a viable option, the EPA is really cracking down on the DEF delete, I'm being told the dealerships will not take deleted vehicles for trade in some dealership shops will not work on deleted engines.
