i got a 97 gmc 1500 2wd with the 5.7 and 4l60e i just changed the trans cuz the forward drive clutch went and the new tranny didnt have a long enough shaft on it for the linkage to put the neutral safety switch box so i took it off the other trans with it in park and plugged it in so the truck would think its always in park so it would start but now the light on the dash says its in 3rd no matter what and when i turn the key to the on position the truck starts and the starter keeps spinning any ideas?

I think that you may be needing some ideas if it is part of a gmc recalls that had happened before. If not, try to read up some resources that would be able to really make things work out for your vehicle. Try to figure it out.
