best shocks
what are the best shocks for my truck? 2007 silverado 1500 classic Z71 4WD i do mild to moderate off road driving (beach and mud mostly) but ive got the leveling kit and im not sure what to get, size and all. ive also got a busted CV joint and need a good place to get one if anyone has any ideas.
im looking at the Rancho RS5000's for shocks id like a comfortable ride but also good for mud and beach.. thanks for any input

Hi CobanG,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
IMO, there really is no "best shock", just what works for personally.
Many Z71s come with Bilstein Shocks to begin with, and to be entirely fair, they ARE a tough act to follow. Did you like the ride before you decided to get new shocks? You may want to stick with Bilsteins.
My truck is a little heavier, and I prefer a stiff ride, but I'm currently using Rancho 9000s, and am very satisfied with them. I find the CCLB holds the road very well on the twisty, hilly roads of Maine and Canada.
I tried a set of Monroe Reflex, and they may be great for a mid-size car, but they were woefully light for the weight class.

Z71s (trucks) have not had Bilsteins since 1998. The red shocks on the 99 and up Z71s are made by Tenneco.
Bilsteins were on the '02-'06 Z71/Z66 Avalances however.
But I do recommend Bilstein HDs. I have put them on my last three trucks. There may be better shocks out there but not for me.
