I have a 1997 silverado...I tried a new blower resistor and checked the fuse...my blower motor intermittently works...sometimes only on high and sometimes not at all...has anyone had this issue before..

 

my truck did the same thing. sometimes it would work at five , then it went for good. It is the blower motor resistor tho

 

I have to agree with "rfordy" I have a 98 silverado 2500. mine only worked on high, I replaced the blower resistor and it works fine... If you blower motor is going bad it will burn out the resistor again. Make sure it is good, no sqeaks, or squells....

 

another thing, my truck only had two screws holding it in but that one didnt work for my truck. I had to put the one that has four holes to hold it in. hope this helps

 

You also need to check/replace the harness. When the resistor goes it can burn/melt the wires in the harness connector. You should also replace the blower while you are at it. As the blower wears it pulls more current than the harness was designed for. Too much current and everything shorts out. A common Silverado and Chevy in general problem.

 

The blower in our 2001 Suburban starting doing this today. Any ideas on where a good place or site to get a new resistor?

 

Check the plug and harness behind the heater control switch...that's where my issue was...any part store should have that resistor...it's behind the glove box...kind of a pain to change...good luck..

 

I have a 1995 Silverado. replaced the blower switch and now it only works on high. Do you know where the resistor is located?
