Default A/C issues

On my 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0, my A/C does not appear to work on the first two settings but runs absolutely great on the third setting to the point where very often I have to shut it down to warm up. Does it sound like I might just need a recharge or may other larger issues be at work here?

which settings? blower settings? there're more than 3 then; air flow settings? high/low a/c? which ones?
sounds like climate control unit problem anyways.
but no, no recharge. it works, just not turns on right.

Sorry for the confusion. I would say blower settings, there are two turn dials on the dash, one for blower settings 1-5 and one for temp, cold air to warm/hot air. The A/C barely puts out any air at all in the blower settings of 1 and 2 but blows cold air in the 3-5 settings

I would look into a fan switch. Not very expensive, but it fixed my '92. If not that, then I would price a blower motor.
