Default Comin back to the bowtie

So i will be a Chevy owner once again coming in march of 2013. I will getting rid of my current truck and purchasing my bosses 1991 k1500 4x4 5.7L with 100k miles on it. So here are the chevy i have owned before:

1989 2500 5.7L traded in at 210k miles
2005 1500 5.3L traded in at 110k miles

Nothing was wrong woth these trucks when i traded them in. But i am planning on keeping this next Chevy for as long as it will stay running. So heres my questions. Will this 1991 be the same setup in the transmission as my 1989? I know the engine is the same. They last forever if taken care of. Thanks everyone, and i look forward to being back.
