Default DexCool Testing

I recently flushed my radiator on my 03 Sivlerado 5.3 V8. Is there any way to test theCoolant and see if the correct water and dexcool mixture has been achieved? I flushed the system with water for quite some time and then added 2 gallons of Dexcool and toped off with water. I assume that some water was held in the block and I am ok, but being somwhat of a perfectionist I would like to test it if possible.

Default RE: DexCool Testing

In your owners manual it will list the Cooling System Capacity of your truck which should be 14.9 quarts.

If your cooling system capacity is almost 4 gallons (which it is) and you added 2 gallons of antifreeze and the rest water then you are OK as you want the concentration to be 50 to 67%.

There are test strips that you can get at the local parts house that will work with Dexcool if you really want to be certain.
