Default Exterior Mirror Glass Replacement

I have a 2008 Silverado with heated power mirrors. I some how cracked the drivers side mirror glass. I ordered a replacement mirror glass ($59 with shipping) and it came in today. Now I'm trying to figure out how to remove the old mirror. The parts guy said it was obvious how it comes off, but it's not (at least to me). Has anyone removed one before?

Thanks!

Dave

Default

I'm bumping this up to the top again. I looked at the mirror again and it looks like there are tabs on the back of the mirror and you would lift up on the glass to remove it. Are earlier model Silverado's like this????

Default Figured it out.....

You need to tilt the mirror so the top part is facing back toward you. Slip a flat pry bar or screwdriver under the bottom part and pry up. It pops right off. You tilt it out so the mirror has room to pop off

To install the new mirror you hook the wires for the heated grid back on and slip it on and prying down with the pry bar or screwdriver and it pops right in place....

Default You Are Correct!

Thanks for your help, Dave! My mirror glass was cracked and I tried everything all the other "experts" claimed was the correct way to remove it. Yours was the only correct method. And the reverse install went perfectly too. Thanks again!
