Good morning...

I just found this site. So far it's a nice place to talk about Chevy Silverados. I love mine and won't part with it.

Here's the details:
2000 Chevy Silverado 1500LS, shortbed, regular cab, 4.8L V8 and a 5 speed stick. I bought it used in 2003, and believe it or not, it had 70,000 miles on it. The original owner turned out to be a construction superintendent for state of Virginia and drove the Silverado all over the interstates, checking on various construction sites. Therefore the Silverado had high miles but it was all highway miles and not city traffic and bumper-to-bumber traffic jams. In other words, this Silverado was still in mint condition. So, I ran the VIN# on Carfax, researched all the info on it, and went back to the dealer and bought it.

As it stands now.... Right this minute... My Silverado now has 105,352 miles on it and is still going strong with no major problems. When I did flip it over to 100,000 miles, I gathered up the $$$ for the full service plan at the dealer where I bought it. They replaced the plugs, flushed the radiator, cleaned the injectors, flushed the brake lines, then fixed this, replaced that, and basically went all over my truck. Cost me $530 bucks all totalled. But in my mind, it was money well spent to keep my Silverado running strong for another 100,000 miles.

Here is a picture of my Silverado....

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I am on a mission with my 2000 Chevy Silverado... See, an old hunting buddy of mine has an 87 Silverado, still with the original engine and tranny. He always gets it serviced regularly, and never abuses it. Well the story goes, me a few of the guys were joking with him about his old truck. He stated he had 250,000+ miles on it. We all said, "B.S." So, he went out to his truck with a digital camera and snapped a photo of his dashboard panel and posted it on the internet forum that we're all on. He said, "Beat this!". Sure enough. The photo showed 250,385 or something like that. I couldn't believe it...

So, since I'm only at 105,352 I have a long ways to go yet!

Nice truck you got there! I fyou keep your truck in great running condtion it will easily give you 200,000 miles. And who cares about miles, as long as the truck lasts forever? You'll get many years of service out of it.

Take care and God bless,

Awesome truck Butch!
I don't own a truck yet, just a car, but I have been looking at Silverados and after reading what you wrote I'm going to even look harder now!
