Just went to a shop and they, suggested shorty headers with the stock converters so it would be less job to do. Please help me. I want the longtubes but do i need to purchase another converter or can i use stock?

Try these....

OBX headers complete with high flow cats and will bolt up to any aftermarket Cat-Back muffler system including stock.

OBX has been around a long time and is a best kept secret.Lifetime warranty as well.
Don't let the price fool you,the quality is high.Don't use the supplied gaskets though, they suck.Use OEM MLS exhaust manifold gaskets available at any dealer for around $20.00.

This is a true bolt on system,no need for a shop to do it if you have a little mechanical skill.

You will still need a tune, yet this system allows the rear 02 sensors to be retained.

Obx are great quality. But those aren't cats. Those are high flow resonators. Still would have to get a tune to get the rear o2 sensors tuned out. And don't do shorties, they're worthless on newer chevys (00+). If you have visual cat inspection then get an exhaust shop to custom fab a y-pipe with them in there. Not hard, did it to my dads

Yep your rite about that

It seems only the 07' to 08' comes with the resonators that "look" like Cats.
That's odd ?

I know the 99' to 06' wont work due to EGR provisions.

I wonder if the 09' and up with Cats would work on a 07',08' with a little welding?

EGR? You don't need that! lol. Had to get rid of my whole EGR system then tune it out when I did longtubes. And I don't see what's different between a 07-08 set and a 09+ set. Most companies sell 07+ headers and dot split em up. I guess the y-pipe is different

Ok I have decided to go with the LPP headers. However I want to buy the high flow cats. I'm looking at magnaflow, I'm currently looking at Amazon.com for the cats. Thank you for the help. Any more suggestions, I'm very thankful because I really want it done good
