Pull the plugs to do a compression check and check the condition of the plugs.. If they are black and carbon soothed then you running really rich. The compression check will make sure you have no issues like bad rings and such.

hi, try a MAP ( Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor. when it is bad it could cause poor fuel economy and your rich or lean problem

Thanks for the tips I replaced all the plugs already and they looked tan in color. I have not done a compression check but only because the truck don't smoke or use any oil? If the rings were shot you would. certainly have one or the other symptom but I will check it just to be sure. The map sensor was tested
by a local shop, but not sure that is a fail proof test, so I could give that a try. don't they normally set an engine light or code though when they go bad? this truck has never showed any codes or a check engine light.

a bad map sensor can cause the check engine light. and did u say something about the spark plugs having carbon on them. the bad map sensor can cause that too.

****update*****took the truck to the tranny shop, went for a ride with the owner, he says trans. is a little lazy but shifting as it should and not showing signs of slipping or anything like that. He couldn't believe the truck had 4.10 gears said it drives like it has 2.38 under it, lol no kidding buddy thats why I am ready to send it over a big hill somewhere!!!

his only answer for it was "stop buying parts for it, put gas in it and drive it" wouldnt be a bad idea if gas were 2.00 a gallon instead of 3.50 and using it at a rate of 8.5 mpg.

had the plow on for a day plowed 4 small driveways in town and been hauling 500 pounds of weight for traction, makes the truck even sicker and it got 6.5 mpg this tank!!!!!! If there is no answer for this computer controlled piece of **** I am done!
