Truck has been sitting since 12/31/13. Haven't been able to mess with it due to some problems.

Now I have all but 2 parts to crank it but the thing is I removed the trans.
I was wondering is it possible to start the truck without the trans rather than struggle by myself putting the parts on?



The truck is a '95 V6 5 speed Cheyenne

as long as you can support the back of the engine while you crank it.

What do you mean by support?

I know that the clutch is used to start the truck but can't use that. I heard someone say you need to apply pressure but idk where. Flywheel and clutch disc are off currently.

Motor is still on the frame with bolts so not sure if you are referring to this.

I just want to crank it over to see if it will start before putting back the parts.

you will need the flywheel for the starter to engage . you need to support the rear of the engine if there is no cross member to support it or you may rip the motor mounts .you will have to find the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal and bypass the switch . you will have to go from normally open to normally closed

Thanks old dog for letting me know about the NSS, found more info on the bypass suggestion. Couldn't find anything with my search terms.

Quick question though. Does the flywheel have to be resurfaced, cant find a definite answer?

you resurface the fly wheel when replacing the clutch disc and pressure plate to give a good surface for smooth engagement of the clutch . the middle of the mount is rubber and it could tear .
from the look's of your picture i would be hesitant to try to start it with out the transmission installed ,the mount appears to be on the rear of the trans .i think you will be making a lot of work for yourself ,that will be unnecessary.
