Default Rebuilding '79 - '84 Silverado

Hey,

I am looking to possibly purchase a '79 - '84 Silverado and rebuild. Wondering how feasible it is to drop a newer engine (fuel injected) and transmission in order for better mpg and more reliable so it can be an every day vehicle? Any thoughts on other common issues that may arise? Thank you

It's going to take a lot of work, lots of custom fabrication and such to get it to work, but it can be done. What kind of engine are you looking at putting in?

I was considering a vortec 4.3L v6 or a 5.7L v8 but not particularly set on either.
