Question Reduce engine power

We have a 2003 Chevy Silverado1500HD that has, on a few recent occasions, displayed the message reduce engine power on the display screen and brings the truck down to about 10 mph very quickly, which is very scary when you are on a busy road going 60mph. I have seen several posts about this as well as the other scary situations with very few answers. Any idea what is going on with the truck and what it might be? Is this part of a Chevy recall? This situation can be very hazardous.

Without codes I can't speculate much for that year, I know the newer pickups/suburbans the most common issue I see is throttle position sensor issues and certain years do have an extended special coverage to replace them but I don't think it applies to that year.

Post the codes or call your dealer with your VIN and see if they have any info on it.
