Default Replacing Rear Main Seal

My '88 has the 350 in it. I'm thinking about replacing the oil pan, gasket and rear main seal. I currently have the trans pulled and am replacing it, figured I should look into this while I have the chance. IDK if the pan acctually needs replaced, but the bottom has a few good sized dents from yours truly and a field. I've been watching it for a while, trying to deturmine where the oil is leaking from and it seems to be accumulating around the rear main seal and surrounding areas, but starts at the seal so its not the freeze plug. Is there a way to deturmin if the sealing surface on the pan is not flush without pulling it? How hard will it be for me to relace the rear main seal as of right now, no with no trans? Do I need to pull the rear main or what?

Here is the equipment I plan to use if I do fix it:
Pan - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G3530/
Gasket/Rear main seal - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEL-OS34500R/
Thanks,
Aaron
