Default 00 silverado 4x4 transmission ?’s

I have a 2000 silverado 4x4 ext cab. its the base model with the 4.8 engine and auto trans. The transmission has gone out but i found one for $500 at a junk yard thatcame off the sametruck. The only difference is it came off a 5.3 instead of the 4.8. So my question is whats the difference between these two transmissions and what would it take to make the 5.3 trans work on a 4.8 engine. Thanks for your help. let me know.</P>

All you need to do a call a reputable Chevrolet Service Center and ask the parts department or possibly a service technician. Any Trans Shop should also be able to answer the question as well.
