I was wondering how to and how hard it is to hook up a transmission temp gauge for my 01 silverado.

 

Buy a new gauge cluster out of a HD model truck, a yukon Denali, or a escalade. They came with them stock. Your truck is already wired to make it work like stock, no need to wire one in. Only thing is the miles won't be correct unless you get it reprogrammed

 

Since its already wired in can I just hook up an external gauge to the stock wiring? I like the looks of pillar gauges so maybe just mount one there?

Or where is a good place to get aftermarket gauge clusters maybe one with LED lighting and how so you reprogram the mileage?

 

You might could. Honestly idk. Never tried it, and you can get the stock one and put LEDS in it and have get a dealership to reprogram the mileage. But I'd check on that first. Some places will and some won't
