Default '03 silverado radio

Ive got an '03 silverado WT, My sister has an '07 gmc sierra classic. She said I can have her radio & bose speakers for freesince they put in a differant sound system. My question is will her radio work in my truck or will the anti theft system cause a problem.

I tried to hook up the radio today but whenI did the display said "LOCKED". Is there any way to get around this or do I have to go to a dealer.

In the car the stereo came from there should be some kind of code in the glovebox or in the owners manual. There may evenbe a card that has it on it.

Theres a decal on the side of the radio full of inspection numbers but no code numbers. I'll have to call my sister and see if she can find anything in her pickup since that's what it came out of.

On second thought I might just get a pioneer and everything to install it out of crutchfield for $200. Because I dont feel like having to put in the secret code everytimethe battery gets disconnected/go's dead.

I am pretty sure the 2003 and for sure the 2007 are vin# coded radio theft systems. The radio learns the vehicles vin and then it can only be used in that vehicle. If you have installed it into another vehicle it will have to be vin# unlocked by someone with a computer diagonstic tool (dealer). Once it is matched up (unlocked) it can be depowered or removed and reinstalled into and out of the new vehicle without any problems.

All the chevy dealers around here are a bunch of a$$holes, would I need to go to a dealer? Theres a good independent mechanic in town with all the diagnostic computers and scanners, would he be able to do it?
