I recently bought a 04 Chevy Silverado and wanted to know what some good upgrades would be for more power. It is a regular cab swb 2wd and its got the 5.3 in it. And its got decent power for a truck but I would like a little more. Any help is much appreciated.

 

Intake, exhaust, Longtube headers, and a custom tune for starters.

Ok what kind of intakes do they make for these trucks? I am used to the older style carbed intakes. I know how to make power on the older motors but these newer ones make me confused.

I have a 2004 Silverado with the 5.3L under the hood - and it had adequate power when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago; but I wanted a bit more.

Adding Flowmaster "50 Series" mufflers was the first step. After that, I had the spark plugs and wires replaced. She'll really scoot - and I don't even have a cold-air intake or anything like that. Eventually, I might get around to doing that.

Mine is 2wd and is shod with expensive Michelin P275/70-17 radial tires and it will "light 'em up" with no problem if I mash the accelerator (which, of course, I do not). Having the 3.73:1 axle and towing package probably helps with that. LOL!

I love my truck (and this comes from a die-hard FORD guy) and don't beat on it; but I don't drive like a grandpa, either. I use synthetic oil (Mobil-1) and still change it and the Fram filter every 3.000 to 3,500 miles. She's got 103k and runs like a dream!

Ok can you run it without the lid on the truck or just leave it on? And I have to agree that these are pretty good trucks. I bought mine with 115000 on it and it was a 1 owner. And she was a girl lol had flip flop emblems on the back window lol.

 

First and easiest is replacing that heavy radiator clutch fan with dual electric fans. Turning that clutch fan robs torque from your motor. The rest is easy. Headers. exhaust. intake. programmer. cold-air intake (make sure and go with closed filter box)
