I have a 2004 Silverado with a dead instrument cluster. The lights (illumination) work, but none of the gauges move and I cannot see the mileage. I was planning on getting the cluster rebuilt. I do not know the history of the truck but when I pulled the cluster, I noticed a remanufactured by/for Delphi sticker on it. The previous owner may have already tried replacing it. Before I send it out, or do anything else, I wanted to see if anyone has some advice on troubleshooting it. I also checked these fuses: IPC/DIC, SEO B1, IGN E, and SEO IGN. Thanks!

 

One thing you may be able to do for free or very cheap is check the speed sensor in the tranny or even the ignition switch. If the sensor is out then it won't know how fast it's going or how far it went that fast so you won't be able to see anything move or change on the dash. If the ignition switch is screwed up anything that is being sent from you pushing the gas to coming back to show on the cluster can be messed up. Neither part is as expensive as rebuilding the whole thing, so it's something I would check first. But also make sure to take a look at ALL your fuses and any wiring you can. Good luck

 

I hope that trouble is not in the works for my instrument cluster. So far, it works okay - but my voltmeter doesn't work. It stays pegged all the way to the right.

What would a new cluster cost, about $500 or so? I would hate to spend that kind of loot on a 2004 truck.
