i have a 04 Silverado ext.cab 4x4 5.3 liter
it has 112,000 miles on it. i love my truck. but after doing research. the 03-04 transmission suck. my slips from second gear to drive. so i was thinking should i replace the transmission or should i go with a 6.0 liter and trans.
to get away from the 5.3 transmission. 112000 miles isn't much and it has been slipping since 98000 miles. of course gm won't do anything about it. they want $2000 to replace my trans. so i thinking screw it . go and find a good 6.0 with trans and put that in. or take another sorry chance and put another transmission in. any thoughts?

 

i have 6.0 and i never have any problems with the trans, but, it eats gas like a pig so be ready for 12.5mpg at the very best

 

my truck now gets 13mpg. very best with the wind helping ill get 15mpg.
not that much difference. i just trying to figure out if its worth putting in another transmission or spend the extra and go with the 6.0 liter for better quality! if you do a research on 03-04 transmission they suck. there shouldve been a recall . but never was. so i just dont know which way to go.
