Default '05 Silverado A/C Problem

My A/C inadvertantly will begin to blow hot air on the driver side only. The pass. side will remain cold. I can shut the eng. off, restart it and the A/C will blow cold again for sometime. This originally started on the pass. side and has now swapped sides. I can turn the A/C off and the vent still blows hot air. It will only stop when the eng. is shut off and restarted. I read on another thread that it may be moisture in the system, however that would not explain why it still blows hot with A/C off. Anyone else had this problem? If so, can you lend a solution. It is a pain to be going down the Interstate and having to pull over each time this happens. Any help will be very much appreciated.

i would suspect the control panel or a temp sensor for the climate control is going haywire and switching the doors around. say you tell it you want 65* and it suddenly thinks it 30* and blows heat.

I've driven for the last two days with the vent next to the drivers window closed and have not had a problem. I wonder if the extra back pressure on the door is helping. Kinda wierd ain't it?

My 05 Silverado does the same. Its intermittant and is only solved by shutting the engine off and starting again. I quickly asked a mechanic one time what it might be and he said that the system works off a vacume and there could be small pin hole in the system causing the system to sometimes not be sealed.
Not sure about cost of fixing. If you get other answers I'd be very interested in hearing about it (only difference is that mine has only ever been on the drivers side).

Too bad the center vent does not have a shutoff!!
