06 Silverado Z71 help!
Hey yall, brand new here and looking for some info.
I have an 06 1500 LT model, crew cab short box, with the following:
1. Spin tech dual exhaust - Sounds GREAT but the cab is loud on acceleration and looking to "downsize". I guess I'm getting old and want to be a little quieter nowadays. Suggestions on a "Quiet" exhaust and muffler?
2. Air raid cold air filter. I keep it clean.
3. Charlie Wheatley custom tune - which honestly I have noticed little to no difference. Although when I "want" power, it's there. SO I really can't complain.
4. Poor gas mileage. I don't stand on my pedal by any means, but when I bought it off the showroom floor with 94 miles on her, I was getting around 420 miles to a tank. Now, I'm lucky if I get to 370 with 47K on the odometer.
5. Just put 4 new tires on her also. BIG O BIG FOOT A/T SPORT TOURING 245/75R16/SL 111
So I want to quiet her down and improve my gas mileage.
I'm a medical guy, go easy on me.
Thanks
Roger

RE: 06 Silverado Z71 help!
Sounds like your injectors may be wearing themselves larger. You didn't share the vehicle's mileage with us, so it's only a guess. I'm looking to upgrade my 04 at @ 75k.
Tires- I prefer the E-rated 10ply, one advantage is they inflate to 80PSI. Got a set stock with my 2500HD, and got 65k out of them, under the worst conditions possible. Sounds like, in any event, you may be looking for highway radials.
Also, look under the search function at this site under gas economy and like titles, a whole lot of real good people make excellent suggestions for improving gas mileage.
