Back on topic, Have you thought about getting a leveling kit for the truck instead? It will lift the front to match the rear. Just throwing it out there in case you didn't know about it.

ok i have the 08 chevy silverado and i want to drop the back end to make it level with the front. yes i know ppl say it should be lifted but i just want to level the truck out and just drop the rear. i dont want to lift the front. just want it to look good.
would it be good to just remove the 1 1/2" block thats already installed under the leaf springs or would it be better to just buy the 2" drop shackles? is there any safety hazards with removing with that block? which one does everyone say is safer to do, remove the block or get drop shackles?

I was told by a shop that an alignment is only needed when you lower the front-end of your vehicle to adjust the cambers. What is the reason for an alignment for a rear drop,
I had mine lowered 2" front & back and about a month later I had it aligned and they did'nt adjust anything on the laser alignment thing, they said it was good.

Pinion angle shouldn't be an issue for you, unless you're lifting the suspension over 3".
One danger inherent in leveling using the rear is, as soon as you add a load to the rear, you're going to throw off the whole front "lean" and alignment.
I was looking at a pickup the other day thinking "What's wrong with this picture?". Then it occurred to me. The truck had been leveled perfectly, and had no lean at all. Weird.
Pickups are supposed to "lean". That's part of the look. (Oh SNAP! That is, as long as the ambassador from France doesn't see it!...)

The easiest way to drop the back end would be to just take out the blocks...if you do just make sure the leaf springs line back up in the hole where the blocks would mount or it won't sit right...all in all should only take about 10-20 min. with the right tools...we took mine out and replaced them with bigger ones and took my friends out to drop his like you want to do
