Question 08 Silverado shut off when I put it in drive this morning

Hey guys. I have a factory installed remote start and I started it this morning (just like every other morning to cool it off). The truck started just fine but when I put it in drive, the truck shut off completely. I tried to manually start it and it wouldn't even try to crank. I even hooked up some jumper cables to it and nothing. The keyless entry works and the lights and radio come on just fine. Is there some kind of security feature that I tripped or something? Please help.

To clarify. This was the 3rd set of keys that was used in the ignition in one day. My truck got towed and the people at the storage yard cut a key when I went to pick it up. The key was in the ignition when I got in. I took the key out, and put my regular key in and it started fine. This morning I couldn't find my regular set so I just used another set of keys. I remote started the truck and when I put this other key in the ignition, the truck shut off and would not start. Did I trigger an anti-theft device on the truck? I'm going at lunch to try my regular key and hope it works. Any suggestions?

Possible. Does the security light stay on? Little trick I read, and did is with your key in, and ignition on, let it set for 10 minutes or so. Without turning the ignition off, try to start it.

jkucera07,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Please let me know if your original set of keys works on your truck. If not, I will look further into this for you.

Thank you,

Elizabeth, Chevrolet Customer Service

I went back out to my truck that day during lunch and the thing fired right up. No problems. I even tried the set of keys that didn't work earlier that morning, no issues at all. Really weird. Haven't had any problems with the ignition or remote start since then.
