Default 09 silverado gas mileage???/

Just got my truck(2300 miles on it), What should i be expecting to get on gas mileage. It has the 4.7 in it. So far it is averaging 14.2 mpg no matter how i drive, cruise on or off etc, They advertised it as averaging 18-20? yea right ....maybe downhill and with a strong tail wind...lol,,,,

My 2007 Tahoe with a 5.3 with active fuel management in it only gets 12.6 ( it is rated higher than that) so you are doing good in my book.

I hate to say it, but I'm gonna say it anyway, if you bought a truck for fuel mileage then you may as well trade it back in and get a prius.

I had a 07 with the same engine, it averaged about 14.5 to 15 and it was a two wheel drive with a 3.23 rear end, wouldn't even pull your hat off your head. I have a 08 with the 5.3 Z71, and 3.73 rear end and it gets better 16.1

I have an 07 NBS, 5.3, 3:42 rear gears and average 17.9 with an approximate 50-50 mix city and highway. Can get as high as 19.7 on straight highway. Very suseptable to cross winds and head winds.

Our 07 has the 6.0 with varible valve timing. The computer says it has averaged 14.6 since we got it new. Now has 15,400 miles. Of course we don't baby it, but we don't have our foot on the floor all the time either and we live in a rural area so not much traffic. Probably as good a mpg as I've ever got on a truck.
