NEED HELP! im about to buy the 2006 chevy 2500 hd with a 14in lift and 46in tires but it has stock axles and shocks. have no clue what to upgrade to or buy. and for how much will i pay?

Do a full solid axle conversion IMO. With 46s, that front end has to hate life, along with the tranny. Is it regeared?

 

not regeared.. how much we talking for the solid axle?

 

also, how would i go about re gearing it?

 

Reheated costs around 1500 for frot and back with good quality parts....and solid axle is a whole lot more. Couple grand I believe. But runnin 46s on a ifs isn't worth the trouble IMO.

 

If you have to ask, your prolly going to be best off paying someone to re-gear it. (I promise I'm not trying to be condescending) It's a huge PITA and is touchy work, unless your ok with it sitting when you get stuck on something.

soild front axle swap is good too, but gonna take some engineering. But will give you the goodies for offroad.


With the ideas you seem to be kicking around you'll want to consider lockers too.

possibilities are endless, and not much of it is cheap...

 

Yup, not gonna be cheap with that truck if you want to do it the right way.
