You are either driving way too fast -- or you are in too low a gear. My '04 Silverado has a 5.3L and it turns about 2,000 RPMs at 70 miles per hour.

5,000 or 6,000 RPMs is not going to bode well for the life of your engine.

Hi ron2121,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

There is something going wrong here. Are you using cruise control, perhaps?

A 2500, with a larger engine is going to pull better, but with 410 gears, you're still going to see 3000-3300 RPMs a lot on the highway.
