hello all. My son owns a 2001 1500 with 213k. Drove all day without hitch or hiccup, went to start it in the evening and when he turned the key dash lit up for a second then everything shut down with a loud click. No turn over in the engine at all. Testing battery today. Could it also be starter? I replaced alternator months ago, and amperage was not an issue yesterday. Any other ideas or similar experiences appreciated.

 

Check the battery cables for corrosion and tight connections at both ends, not just at the battery.

 

Thanks. Checked battery, cleaned corrosion, tightened down cables. Truck started but had to pump the gas. After revving, it stayed running. Put it in reverse and it died immediately.

 

Fuel filter clogged or fuel pump has low pressure

 

check fuel pressure and volume?
