Ok so let me start off by saying i drive a 1988 silverado 1500 with the 350 tbi. i got a few different things i cant figure out. One, when i first start the truck it'll run for about 10 secs then die out, but starts right back up and runs, then when i drive it, its sputters really bad to the point im barley moving. that lasts until the motor warms a lil bit. then when its warm it idles so low that it seems like it wants to die out. along side that, after i drive for a little bit, i'll come to a stop and my oil pressure gauge will drop to almost none. I'm not an idiot when it comes to doin the work, im just not good with diagnosis. so if yall could please help id greatly appreciate it.

 

may wanna try the fuel pump and filter

 

just put a whole new tank and sending unit in the truck as well as the filter. i just cant keep throwing money at this truck. im barley gettin paycheck to paycheck as it stands.

 

The idle air control (a little gadget on the pass side of the throttle body) may be dirty or defective. Also the temp sensor may not be telling the system that the motor is cold. The oil press should be checked with a mechanical gauge to see where you are at.If it is really that low ideling is the least of your worrys.

 

thanks bud. what would you think would most likley be causin the pressure drop? ive got plenty of oil pressure when the engine is cold, but not so much when its warm.

 

Worn bearings would be the most likely cause.
