1981 C10 Ignition Problem
Just bought a 1981 Chevy C10. It only had one owner and is in good shape. However, after having it only a few days, I went to turn off the engine but nothing happened when I turned the key. Thought it might be the ignition, so I replaced that. However, when it was complete, the same thing continued to happen. Could this be something wrong deeper inside the steering column, or is something else going on? The only way to stop the engine is to starve it of air in the carburetor.... Any help would be greatly appreciated....

yea there is a rod that comes off the ignition deeper into the column, what it contacts may be broken, instead of ripping apart the column, it is much much easier to replace the column, junkyards will have them, cheap too
