Default 1985 Silverado EGR Valve. Need or Not??

I have a 1985 Chevy Silverado with a 305 V8. I use this truck only around the farm to pull stumps, haul trash etc etc. It is not registered or insured, so I don't drive it on the street. I recently purchased an Edelbrock 1403 Carburetor to replace the Quadrajet and found out I need to purchase a spacer for the EGR valve in order to install the new Edelbrock. My question is, should I purchase this spacer for my existing EGR valve or should I just purchase a blank off plate and get rid of the EGR. Is the EGR required where my speed on the farm will not exceed 10 or 15 mph? I don't mind purchasing the spacer but it is just another $60 to spend on my old farm truck. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your recommendations.

Cool

Not for nothin' but at those lower speeds, how is your air/fuel mixture going to react to the EGR being completely shut down?

I would say if you removed the air(EGR)pump, belt, pulley, EGR tubing, plugged the EGR holes with the right threaded adapters, and then tuned the truck with the new fuel system to run without EGR, it should be fine.

Then again, it might just be easier to replace the EGR valve and say the hell with it.

you could, but sometimes its safer to leave it on to avoid any problems that may occur in a bypass that could become a little more expensive than buying a spacer.

Thanks for the replies!! Based on what I am hearing, I am going to remove the EGR valve and put a blank off where it was. Appreciate the help.
