Default 1987 chev k2500 350 will not stay running

Hi,

I have a 1987 (built 3-87) chev K2500 350 engine.Replaced the fuel pump and flilter, cleaned out the tank.Ran initially for a few minutes, then will only run if fuel is dumped in the throttle body. Will the fuel pump on this vehicle cycle for a longer time then current models ? (it seems like it runs a lot).Is it an issue with the throttle body or ignition ? Thanks for the input.

My 93 sub did this when the ignition module in the distributor was bad. Would run as long as I poured gas in the throttle body but the module wouldn't fire the injectors
