Default 1993 C1500 Engine Size

I just bought this truck on Monday and the guy I bought it from said it had a 305 in it. Today I did a VIN search and saw it came with a 350. What's the easiest way to determine which engine is in it?

I understand that will tell me what came in it from the factory. But is there a easy way to tell what's in it now?

You would need casting # from block. It would be unlikely for someone to remove the 350 and put in a 305

Well the previous owner said he had the upper half rebuilt, new heads. Then he told me it had a 305 in it. So just trying to verify what I have here.

Attach a picture and I could tell you whether you have a 5.0 or a 5.7

I was hoping you would have some sort of common aftermarket sign, but that was a no go... The best way I can tell you is by using the VIN of the dash or getting the serial number of the engine and looking it up that way. Sorry man, I really did not expect someone to be as stock as mine.

Oh yeah I was going to mention that a lot of the parts are actually the same for the 305 and 350 obviously there are some differences but not a whole lot. One thing that actually surprised me was when I went to replace my upper intake plenum. It was the same part for the 350 and 305, for some reason I assumed the 350 would have been a tad bigger or something. Anyways sorry again, the VIN on the dash cannot be changed and as mentioned before I have no idea why anyone would go from 350 to 305 unless somehow someway they blew up the 350 and got a better deal on the 305.
