Default 1994 1500 Dash quit working, HID install

Hi,

A friend of mine just recently installed a "plug-n-play" HID kit in my truck (I know they are illegal but at the time I didn't know). After a few days of running the lights my dash lights completely went out, and the digital climate control module only lights up with the head lights are off. I had played with the dimmer switch multiple times to no avail. My question is, is this a common occurrence on these trucks? And what I need to do to fix this problem? Thanks

Have you checked the fuses?

That's the first thing I would do.

Fuses checked out fine, which makes no sense to me. Almost seems there is a multiplex or something that may have blown. I'm just wondering that the start up amps needed for the HID may have fried something. Just not sure where to look first.
