shifts from 1st to 3rd, can you reset the computer to solve this problem? if so , how do you do it?

 

have changed out transmission, 4 times every tranny does same thing, no coincidental, can computer be reset? to solve this problem? if so, how?

 

WIll it go on up into 4th, or does it just "hang" in 3rd?

My 94 Silverado only does 2nd and 3rd right now, which means that the 1-2 shift selenoid needs replacement.
If you have replaced the transmission with one that you know works, it does sound like something external to the transmission.
