1995 K1500 350 Won't run - need advice
My pickup with 145,000 miles began running rough on a recent drive in town and before I could get home it finally died and had to be towed. It would start, but then would die as soon as you gave it some gas.
I replaced the fuel pump assembly, fuel filter and fuel pump relay switch since it seemed to be common consensusthat fuel pumps expired and caused similar symptoms to what I was experiencing.
Tonight my wife drove the truck for the first time to the gym about two miles away. No problems going to the gym, but on the wayback it made it about half way home and once again began to run rough and finally died on the side of the road. I managed to drive it home at idle, but if you gave it gas it would die. It would run rough at idle in the driveway and as soon as you pressed down on the accelerator it would die. You could restart it each time.
Anyone have an idea what the problem is? If so, how can I troubleshoot to be sure. I just spend $200 and whole afternoon fixing the wrong problem and would like to not repeat that. Thanks in advance.

I can't imagine how. It had good gas in the tank when this all started and then I drained the tank and refilled it with new gas after installing the new fuel pump. Same result.

It sounds like your spark timing is way off. Too late I would say. Also it doesn't seem to adjust with revs. It may also be missing on some cylinders or just randomly.
Are those parts bolted on right and tight? Are they worn, chipped or broken? Are they moist with oil, grese or coolant? (This could short out electricity at crucial moments)
It's a bummer to check, but that's where I would start.
The only other area I can think of right now is a grave malfunction with the gas injection very close to the cylinders. What year and type of carb/injection is your truck anyway?
