I have a 1995 k1500 4x4 with a 4.3 v6 ,auto transmission and manual transfer case.. When in park if you rev the engine slightly the trip counter and the odometer start to turn... Also the idle is horrible the truck runs fairly well throughout the driving range but once in a while when you try to start it acts as though it is mechanically out of time...then it just starts up fine.... Any ideas???????

 

I thought the Odometer ran off the MPH sensor at the rear of the trans.
that just sounds odd. I did some googling, but i couldn't find anything similar.

 

i thought it was mechanical but apparently it is not... it does not move when idling but if you give it a little gas the trip meter odometer and speedometer start to move plus it is really running like crap down at idle but runs fine the rest of the time.......could it be a speed sensor????

 

Maybe, is the check engine light on?? If so have the codes ran, sometimes the codes will give the exact problem, or at least help pin point it.
