1997 silverado starting issue
Hi, replaced motor in truck, aligned cam and crank timing to marks and installed distributor for #1 cylinder. truck won't start no matter which way I turn the distributor. Any suggestions
i,m assuming you have a vortex engine, when you said you alinged all your timing marks for the crank and cam.there is a timing refrence mark in the distributor housing.now theres one for 6 cylinder engines and one for v8 engines.you did not say whehter you had a 6 or 8 cylinder engine.when you set your distributor timing marks ,it should line up with the proper refrence mark or it will not fire on the proper stroke.you could also be 180 degrees out which will cause a no start condition.i have seen this before in the shop i worked at where one of our techs changed a intake gasket and when he reinstalled the distributor he didn,t line it up with the proper refrence mark and it wouldn,t start.i eventually ended up resyncing the distributor and i got it to run.did you check to see if you have spark at any of the plugs.
