I have a 1998 K1500 Z71 Extended Cab.

My U-Joints are very bad.

Just recently I was in my truck and I put it in reverse. While I was giving it gas in reverse I heard a super loud noise (sounded like the engine fell out of the truck, it was that loud) and right after that truck just stopped, even when I was giving it gas. While I was giving it gas it wasn't moving and was making a kind of screeching sound (sounded like tires peeling out, but they weren't moving, or a loud fan belt). So I switched it into park, turned it off and back on, and then it was working just fine and has been. It was not the drive shaft and I was not in 4WD. Any ideas of what that could of been?

 

First thing I'd suspect would be the motor mounts; especially the right one.
