Hey Guys. First of all new to the forum so it's good to be here.

I bought a 98 1500 Z71 with the 5.7 vortec and 154,000 miles on it. I'm having a couple issues with it that I'm not sure of and wondered if anyone had any experience or expertise.

The first problem is every now and then, while driving, when I hit the brake pedal everything seems to cut out. All the gauges blank out, the radio quits, the brake light comes on and then goes off and the ABS light comes back on (it stays on because of a bad sensor at the hub I haven't had time to fix). I've heard that it could be the brake switch? Could this be? and if so how hard are they to change?

The second problem is that I have been having some issues with it running rough. It died one time at a stop light while idling. The idle seemed to be low to me (around 500-600 RPM). I adjusted the idle up a little and it seems to run a little better but it is still a little rough at stop lights. The previous owner replaced the computer in the truck and said that it was the wrong one (he also blames this for the speedometer being off as it is out of a 2wd.) Could the computer be causing this issue or is it something else I should look into?
