1999 Silverado 1500 fuel problems
Last week the truck ran fine. Then one day I had a "service engine soon" light come on, and the gear indicator was locked on 3 no matter what gear I was actually in. I thought maybe an animal had chewed thru some wires (happened before) but couldn't find anything. The next day the truck wouldn't start at all. The fuel gauge shows completely empty (doesn't even move) and I know there is fuel in the tank. If I pour some gas into the carb directly it will run until it burns that fuel up. I have no idea where to start with this. I have searched everywhere I can think of to check for wiring problems and have found none. Could the fuel level sensor cause the fuel pump to shut off or would I be looking at multiple failures happening at the same time? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 1999 Silverado 1500 fuel problems
The most likely cause of this condition may be a loss of voltage to the transmission solenoid power supply circuit.
This condition may also be the result of an incorrect installation of an aftermarket electronic device such as a remote starter or alarm system and etc.
