Ihave an 01 silverado 5.3 that sometimes requires me to try and start it 2-3 times before it will fire up. I have heard of other people having the same problem and I cant figure it out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My 2006 Silverado 5.3l does the same exact thing and I havent gotten any answers about it. When the block is cold I usually have to start it 2 times to get it to run. It trys to start the first time but then dies. the second time it fires right off and runs good. if the block is warm however, it will start right up. I dunno what the deal is but i would like some help too.

Let me Clarify myself... Not when it's nessisarily cold so to speak but just when it has been sitting for a while i.e. overnight. its not cold where i live here in west texas so its notoutside temp that does it. its almost likeit's losing prime or something. And no its not under waranty thanx to Chevrolet's 3 year 36000 mile bull**** warranty. I guess they knew their **** would breakdown after 36000miles... thats kinda sad but thats a different story. I just wanna know whats wrong with my truck.

Clean the fuel injection system real well, you may have a dirty injector(s) that is leaking down, if not then a new fuel pressure regulator may be the answer, not a big deal.
