I have a '92 that had that happen. I picked up a pack of 50 20 amp fuses. There is a wire cluster inside the engine bay up against the firewall that my friend sprayed with dielectric spray which appears to have resolved the issue... for now. I had it happening before I installed an after market stereo.
What would happen is that I would turn on the headlights and my instrument panel and parking lights wouldn't turn on and I would check the fuses and find the 20 amp fuse blown.
