Default 2000 chev 1500 defroster and heater not blowing hard

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with 175,000 miles. The defroster and heater are not blowing very hard throught the vents and the air is not very hot. I have changed the cabin filters. If I switch to A/C it blow hard and cold. I noticed when the defroster is on, it sounds like the compressor is trying kick in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont really know a fix for this problem but my 01 chev 1500HD seems to have the same problem. I removed the air filters, and it seemed to help a bit, but it still dosent blow as good as most vehicles seem to. Hopefully someone has an idea!!!!

How come no one knows where these filters are? I have an '98 and just replaced my blower with one from autozone for $49 with a lifetime warranty. Works like a champ now. If you find out where that filter is be sure to let me know.

sorry accidently posted in wrong thread thats similar

[>:] On my 99 Silverado you remove the black casing below the dash which is mostly on the passenger side. I think it was five screws. Once removed you'll see the filters on the passenger side. There's two that slide in a slot. Have to remove bottom support bracket (one screw).
